When faced with an uncomfortable tension, it is so much easier to give in to cowardice, greed, anger, cynicism, depression, boastfulness or whatever is the easiest feeling at that moment. To live our magna anima means “to love despite …” calls for a dying of self which many are not ready for.

Perhaps I can draw parallel of this tension with the 2 thieves on the left and the right of Jesus at Cavalry – which one is us? I think I am both. Sometimes, I am hung on Jesus’ right and other times, on the left. As I grow in my faith, I pray often that I am able the ASSUME THE GOOD in the other when I am put to the test. Just like the 2 thieves didn’t know it was Jesus on the Cross – just like us not recognising Jesus in difficult situations. Let me be that thief who, when hung out to dry, is still able to search inside my great soul and acknowledge Jesus is Christ and he is with me.Assume the Goodnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7853204965986587589.post-12934180701246892122011-07-15T00:45:22.541+08:002011-07-15T00:45:22.541+08:00'Tension,when balanced, gives us a sense of bei...'Tension,when balanced, gives us a sense of being in touch with reality and with life',is so true:thank you Fr Luke for the enlightening blog which gives me courage and hope,to deal with oppressive situations positively.
God Bless.sicilyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14823152002857436991noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7853204965986587589.post-30948921911247555892011-07-14T23:04:11.914+08:002011-07-14T23:04:11.914+08:00This is a powerful message as it transcends all re...This is a powerful message as it transcends all religions. Breaking the ego self down so that the higher self can blossom is what comes to my mind. I find that in my greatest trials and moments of despair, if I force myself to do just one good deed for a stranger or family member for the day, somehow the burden is lessened almost resulting in a feeling of acceptance and understanding as to why I am in the current predicament. I learned from a very well-respected Ci Gong master that "it is ok for someone else to misjudge you but it is by far worse if we misjudge the other person." This requires a lot of discipline and maturity much in line with what Fr. Luke is sayingAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7853204965986587589.post-25583814808239112912011-07-11T12:37:33.571+08:002011-07-11T12:37:33.571+08:00Hi Fr Luke

Wtih my daughter at the precocious age of 3, I have encountered many instances of having to consciously choose to be gentle and patient, especially when the day at work has been rushed, mentally-draining and there are loads of other errands waiting for my attention, and there is nothing that I want more than to tumble into bed. That's when I cry out, "Help me Lord!"

God Bless
MarianMarian Angnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7853204965986587589.post-12728234096252358062011-07-11T09:34:37.335+08:002011-07-11T09:34:37.335+08:00Beautiful and empowering entry.
