But peace has ...I think God wants us to have peace. But peace has many depths, and in both happiness and purposeful striving, peace can be attained. In purposeful striving, that peace lasts longer. This is my reflection.

Thank you for your presence last Sunday, at Bianca's invitation.Serenenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7853204965986587589.post-2892057563215601452017-02-15T17:32:17.021+08:002017-02-15T17:32:17.021+08:00There is meaning in showing the value in longsuffe...There is meaning in showing the value in longsuffering and sacrifice and non-violence. These don’t necessarily provide for happiness in the way that the world knows happiness. But because they are signposts and sacraments of how deep God’s love and mercy are, they are indeed meaningful."

Somehow reading that paragraph makes me to feel that love & happiness and pain & suffering are just two sides of the same coin and together they bring meaning to Life.

Going through the postings on Facebook yesterday, Valentine's Day was an eye-opener for me for there were so many creative ways that some of my FB friends did to express & convey their love to their significant other - making special & most appetising foods for breakfasts, dinner, desserts - beautifully themed & decorated with the freshest of ingredients.

It was apparent that these are labours of love & to accomplish them, one has to spend time & effort & money - it speaks of sacrifice, a self-giving so as to give 'Life' to a loving relationship apart from bodily nourishment. Thus, Love is life-giving & self-giving but also has its costs. Someone has to forgo some beauty sleep, rest time, some pain to give this happiness, this joy, this love. However, this loving action gives meaning to the lives of the couple, reinforces their commitment to one another.

Of course, these acts pale in comparison to the original - the Divine Love that God has for us - but it is a good start. For it does show that regardless of religion/faith the seed of Love has been planted in the human heart by the Creator and it is a love that carries the element of sacrifice.

Thanks for very interesting read. God bless u, Fr.

Tessa
Sent from my iPadTessahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04211998984286520369noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7853204965986587589.post-78273384547890635682017-02-14T23:49:11.871+08:002017-02-14T23:49:11.871+08:00Thank you, Fr Luke for this insightful blog. I'...Thank you, Fr Luke for this insightful blog. I've been struggling with the issue of joy(love) and pain. Both seem to be in tension with each other. However, when put in the light of both carryinging a purpose and meaning, they no longer are in conflict. In fact, I now see them as being meaningful.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
